A video circulated on social media platforms showing a woman beating up her newborn baby in Zarqa governorate.

The mother filmed the incident as she severely beats up her newborn baby.

Spokesman for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) revealed that the Family Protection Department had received the video on November 7, 2019.

The spokesman confirmed that the baby and his siblings have been taken to a doctor, where they were found to be in good health condition.

The mother has been arrested and admitted to beating up the baby. She has been referred to the public prosecutor who decided to detain her for a week on charge of abuse.

The baby and his siblings have been taken to their grandparents and father, the spokesman said.
