The Grand Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 16 years of temporary hard labor after sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child.

Last April, the victim, along with his sister, went to play in a park located near their family house.

As they were playing, the suspect, who is the park's keeper, took the child to his room, closed the door and told the victim that he wants to change his pants. However, the suspect assaulted the victim and raped him, after which he grabbed the child, took him out of the room and asked him not to tell his parents, according to the indictment.

Later in the day and after the child went back to his family home, he felt some pain in his back. His parents checked on his body and realized that their son was sexually assaulted, which prompted them to immediately file a complaint against the perpetrator

Based on the laboratory test made by the Laboratories and Forensic Evidence Department, the epithelial cells found in the victim's blood match with the perpetrator's epithelial cells.

The suspect was found to have done a criminal offense before and has already been sentenced by the Court for indecent assault based on Article (299) of the Penal Code.
