A man has been sentenced to four months in prison for firing random shots in the air in Al-Rashid neighborhood in Amman earlier on September 12, 2019.

The decision was issued during a public hearing headed by Amman Criminal Magistrate Court Judge Mohammad Tarawneh who charged the defendant with possessing an unlicensed firearm.

The defendant was also charged with firing gunshots in accordance with Article 330/1 of the Penal Code, based on which, he must be put in prison for three months; however, he had received the most severe misdemeanor penalty which is four months imprisonment, in addition to imposing fees on him.

The charged was referred to court after a report received by the police indicating that a man was firing random gunshots in the air, where a security force rushed to the site, arrested the shooter and seized the firearm that was in his possession.
