In a pioneering move aimed at making Jordan a leader in introducing advanced services, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has contacted all telecommunications companies in the Kingdom to carry out technical experiments in order to start operating the fifth generation cellular network technology.

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the TRC, Ghazi Al-Jbour announced on Monday, September 16, 2019, that the 5G will be operated in two frequency bands; (3640-3700) and (3740-3800) bands.

Jbour stated that the TRC is fully ready to provide the necessary support for the companies that will implement the technical experiments for this purpose.

He confirmed that this step comes in implementation of the royal directives which called for creating an investment environment capable of providing services and strengthening the real partnership system with the private sector.

The TRC is keen to find and prepare the requirements, the appropriate environment, and regulatory preparation to operate the 5G technology in the local market in coordination with the telecommunications companies, Jbour pointed out.

The Fifth-generation wireless (5G) is the latest iteration of cellular technology, engineered to greatly increase the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks, which would make it an economic platform that supports the transformation of the digital economy and the concepts of the fourth industrial revolution, Jbour noted, adding that it will be an economic platform to provide services and applications in health, education, transportation, water, industry and other sectors, which will benefit the customers, improve services and promote economic growth.
