Teachers in various government schools across the Kingdom continue their strike for the fourth day in a row.

Since the first day of the strike, teachers have been refusing to enter classrooms or even give lessons to students until the government achieves their demands.

The fourth day of the strike comes after statements made by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, in which he called on the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate to halt the strike.

Razzaz noted that the Syndicate had agreed to an offer by the previous government for a 250-percent performance-based basic pay hike, not only 50% as demanded now, but the Syndicate totally rejected any linkage of a pay hike to performance.
