Following a meeting between members of the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate and government representatives held on Saturday, September 5, 2019, the government confirmed that it is committed to dialogue with teachers to enhance their living conditions and upgrade the educational process.

In a statement, the government said, "the negotiation is the basis for dialogue and agreement."

The government added that resorting to strikes will negatively affect students' interests and the teacher's image.

The statement said that a pay hike the teachers are demanding is linked to performance development, something agreed upon with the previous council of the Syndicate.

The government also voiced its full support and respect for teachers' freedom of expression, emphasizing that everyone must abide by the law in order to safeguard the security of the society, public property, and people's free movement.
