The Royal Jordanian's gross profit rose to JD 52.2 million during the first half of this year, President and CEO of the RJ, Stefan Pichler, said during a press conference held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.

During the conference, which was held to announce the financial and operating results for the first half of 2019, Pichler said the profit was due to a 3% reduction in costs and a 1% increase in revenues.

He added that the company achieved a net profit of JD 1.5 million in the first half of this year, while the net loss for the same period last year was JD 12.7 million.

Pichler said that there is a limited number of RJ's aircraft, which sometimes causes technical glitches, adding that there are no extra aircraft in case of any emergency.

"The value of fuel saving reached JD two million," he stated.

He pointed out that "the RJ had believed that it would be able to start flights to Syria as of last April, but that did not happen."
