Head of Nurses Union, Khaled Rababah denounced on Monday, July 15, 2019, the physical attack that was carried out by a security officer on a nurse in Ma'an Government Hospital.

The aggressor was accompanying his mother to the diabetes clinic on a regular visit. However, the nurse said that her health condition requires a hospital stay, which needs some procedures.

The security officer asked the nurse to go on with the procedures, yet the nurse refused, explaining that he is not authorized to do so.

After a dispute arose between them, the police officer brutally attacked the nurse, causing him shoulder dislocation, rib fracture, and various bruises, after which the nurse was referred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The nurse and the aggressor had filed complaints against each other and the PSD launched an investigation to find out all the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary legal action.

Rababah said that the Union and all the health unions are planning to take a unified position on the recent frequent physical attacks on the medical staff.

He pointed out that among the actions to be taken is to prevent the aggressors from working at all government hospitals in the Kingdom until a safe work environment is provided.
