Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah said that the Jordanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Yousuf Abdul Ghani has participated in the meeting held this morning at the office of the Governor of Atyrau, Aydar Baik Tomatov, where the Jordanian citizens working at the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) were attacked by a group of Kazakhs.

During the meeting, Abdul Ghani stressed on four important requests that the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Zaid Lawzi highlighted during his meeting with the Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan earlier yesterday.

Qudah explained that Lawzi had requested Kazakhstan to clarify the circumstances and the causes of the incident, adding that the Jordanian engineers have nothing to do with the perceived cause of the problem, which was reported to be a personal dispute that began in light of a "moral transgression."

Lawzi had also asked the Kazakh Ambassador to carry the concerns of the Kingdom's leadership and its people regarding the safety of its nationals, stressing the necessity to provide protection in anticipation of any escalation and protect the rights of the Jordanian engineers.

Tomatov extended his country's understanding and apologies for the incident, promising to convey these concerns to Nur-Sultan so that his country can duly take necessary decisions as fast as it can.

Tumatov also affirmed his country’s respect and appreciation of the Jordanian leadership and added that Kazakhstan is dedicated to developing bilateral relations in various fields.

Qudah added that the company responded positively to the Jordanian Ambassador's request to provide a plane at its expense to transfer the Jordanian engineers to the Kingdom on leave until necessary measures are taken to ensure their return to their workplace without being subject to any threat. The company also responded to the request of paying an amount of money as compensation for the damage caused to the Jordanians during the incident.

Ambassador Abdul Ghani continued his meetings with the Jordanians working there and conveyed greetings of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein and his directives to ensure all their security and safety.
