As of early July 2019, Turkey will hand over the chairmanship of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to Jordan, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, according to Anadolu Agency.
The last meeting of the Advisory Committee was held under the chairmanship of Turkey in the Dead Sea area of Jordan during the last Monday and Tuesday 17-18 June 2019.
The statement stressed Turkey's strong support for UNRWA during the chairmanship of its Advisory Committee, pointing out that UNRWA attaches great importance to the Palestinian refugees.
The statement has also indicated that Turkey provided strong support and vital services to Palestinian refugees, including mobilizing political and financial assistance from the international community, it added.
"Turkey’s solidarity with UNRWA will continue in the coming period," it noted.
