Interior Minister: Jordan achieved advanced human rights standards

Jordanian Minister of Interior, Salameh Hammad discussed on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, with UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan Anders Pedersen, means of boosting cooperation between the two parties and the support that could be provided by the UN to Jordan in implementing development projects and addressing natural disasters as well as Jordan's efforts in the human rights field.

Minister Hammad said that sustainable economic development goes in parallel with political development and has been a top priority for His Majesty King Abdullah II since he assumed his constitutional powers.

He added that the Ministry is working through its Local Development Directorate on transforming the concept of local development into reality through development projects in all governorates of the Kingdom.

He pointed out that Jordan has achieved advanced levels in the field of human rights, stressing that the government in keen to consolidate the democratic approach and respect for human dignity.

Pedersen expressed satisfaction over Jordan's efforts in the field of human rights and Jordan's continuous efforts to improve and activate the human rights system.
