Kuwait registers world’s highest temperature

The Mitribah area of Kuwait registered the highest temperature in the world on Saturday, June 8, 2019, with 52.2 degrees Celsius in the shade, according to member of the Arab Union of Space and Astronomy of Saudi Arabia, Khalid Al-Zaaq.

Temperatures, which reached about 49 degrees at Kuwait airport caused increased consumption of power, as the load register reached 13,500 megawatts, an increase of 600 megawatts, when compared to Friday, according to Al-Qabas newspaper.

Sources said that temperatures are expected to reach 50 degrees Celsius today and 51 tomorrow.
