During a meeting with Jordanian journalists, Minister of State for Media Affairs and the government spokesperson, Jumana Ghunaimat said on Monday, May 27, 2019, that the government will not impose additional taxes in 2019 and 2020.

Ghunaimat added that the government is committed to alleviating burdens on citizens and to avoiding imposing additional pressures, stemming from its commitment to addressing the needs of the people and provide solutions.

Ghunaimat noted that on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, the government will launch a social protection strategy as a measure to reduce the burdens on the shoulders of Jordanians.

Ghunaimat explained that the most prominent aspect of the strategy is a complementary support project for beneficiaries from the National Aid Fund to be implemented side by side with the complementary support program that is already established and serves more than 95,000 families.

"The number of additional families that may benefit from the new program is expected to reach a minimum of 25,000 families," Ghunaimat stated.
