The Jordanian Cabinet announced on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, that next Thursday, May 2, 2019, will be a public holiday on the occasion of Labor Day, which is usually observed on the first of MAy each year.

All ministries, official departments and public institutions will be off that day.

Labour Day is observed on the first of May each year in most countries with the US being a notable exception, celebrating the occasion on the first Monday of September.

It is celebrated as a public holiday in several countries around the world and that has been the case since the late 19th century, as a result of trade unions and labor movements rising to defend labor rights around the world.
