An Emirati student suffering from Spastic Cerebral Palsy has managed to memorize 42 Surahs of the Holy Quran in one year only.

The 19-old-old Sarah Al-Balushi was able to memorize Al-Mu'awwidhatayn (sometimes translated as "Verses of Refuge") and Ayat al-Kursi (sometimes translated as "The Throne Verse") since she was a child and was encouraged by her sister to learn and read parts from the Holy Quran.

A year later, Balushi affiliated with Mohammed bin Obaid Quran Centre in Dubai, and the teachers at the Centre helped her memorizing Surat Nuh (a seventy-first sura of the Quran with 28 ayat), the Director General of the Mohammed bin Obaid Quran Centre, Nada Mohammed bin Obaid Al Falasi, said.

Balushi was later able to fully memorize 42 Surahs of the Holy Quran and she is still learning to memorize many more, Falasi added.

Falasi explained that the Centre has offered patients of such disease a chance to develop their skills by teaching them how to memorize the Quran and how to read it in the correct way.

She also stressed the role of Balushi's family in providing material and moral support and accompanying her to and from the Center.
