Public Security Department (PSD) Director Maj. Gen. Fadel Hmoud said the security and criminal situation in Jordan is excellent, despite the challenges it faces, such as: the increasing number of population, from visitors, residents and refugees, and the impact of expatriate workers in terms of security, social and economic, in addition to the surrounding events.

In an interview with the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army Radio Station on Sunday, Hmoud added that a recent global study revealed that Jordan ranks 22nd out of 146 countries in safety and security, stressing that this was not achieved without the political will and the keenness of the Jordan armed forces and security agencies to maintain the security and stability of the Kingdom.

"When I was designated by His Majesty the Commander-in-Chief and I assumed my duties as director of public security department, we began to develop the security strategy and set priorities for field work, including drug control, criminal thefts and bank robberies," he said.

"A study revealed that the cost of traffic accidents in 2018 amounted to about JD300 million," Hmoud noted, pointing out that despite the decline in traffic accidents "we still need more awareness in this regard."
