Central Bureau Statistics: Palestine Faces Social Catastrophe

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) and the Palestinian Coalition for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (PCESC) held the Social Justice conference to investigate means of achieving social justice taking into account the current Palestinian situation in light of the socio-economic indicators of the Palestinian community, especially those related to unemployment, labor and the increasing rate of poverty, and in addition to health and social security issues.

The social status in Palestine indicates the risk of the existence of a real catastrophe, according to the numbers the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) provided of the most marginalized groups in the community like women, children and the disabled. This rated Palestine as the highest on the list of unemployability, where the unemployability rate in Gaza exceeds half.

The conference opened the door for researchers and humanitarians to discuss the ability of enforcing social justice in the Palestinian community as is stated by different commissions for Human Rights, to come up with practical solutions for decision makers with the decrease of socio-economic situations.
