A United Nations ‘UN’ report revealed on Saturday that over 2 million boys and girls are currently out of school in Syria, and more than 80 percent of Syrians live below the poverty line.

Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Stephane Dujarric told reporters at a regular briefing on Friday that the crisis is far from over for millions of people in Syria who have lived through 8 years of war.

The 2019 overview launched by the UN shows that more than 11 million people remain in need of some form of assistance, including food, health care, and shelter.

According to the report, displacement continues to be a defining feature of the crisis, with an estimated 6.2 million people who are internally displaced and over 5.6 million refugees.

Over the past year, the UN and humanitarian partners have reached 5.5 million people each month to provide humanitarian assistance.
