The first group of Umrah pilgrims in Gaza left on Sunday morning after 5 years of travel blockade.

The Ministry of Awqaf Islamic Affairs and Holy Places pointed out that the buses are equipped to transport the first batch of 800 people, adding that buses on the Egyptian side will be ready by tomorrow evening to transport the pilgrims to Cairo International Airport.

It is noteworthy that efforts have been made over the past few months to reopen exit corridors for Palestinians from Gaza towards Saudi Arabia in order to perform Umrah for the first time in five years.
