The Ministry of Labor announced in a statement on Wednesday that nearly two thousand job seekers have been employed since the beginning of the year.

Ministry of Labor spokesman Mohammad Khatib said in a statement that these jobs are added to the 10 thousand jobs provided last year through employment offices, the national employment website www.nees.jo and through networking with the private sector.

Khatib stressed that the Ministry of Labour’s employment offices are open for all Jordanian youth to provide professional career guidance services, as well as engage them with potential employers in the private sector.

He added that the Ministry spares no effort to provide all forms of support to Jordanian youth through training programmes which end up with employment.

Khatib also called on youth to benefit from the training and employment programmes announced by the Ministry such as the “National Service” programme, which trains subscribers with vocational skills demanded in the labor market.

He said that more than 11 thousand people have applied for the programme so far, pointing out that the first batch will start their training early March.

The government stressed that opportunities are still available to all in order to benefit from the national employment framework, which will provide 30 thousand jobs for young people this year in a number of sectors.
