Unemployment rates last year reached its highest levels in the last ten years, despite the many development projects provided by the government aimed to reduce joblessness among Jordanians.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Statistics (DoS), unemployment during the third quarter of 2018 reached 6.18%, with holders of secondary school certificates or higher constituting 58.2%.

Madaba ranked top of the list, so Roya went there to meet with Kaseb Al-Shakhabneh, who holds a bachelor's degree in Information Technology since 2015.

Kaseb, like many of his peers, has been looking for a job in his field of study without any luck and has been waiting for the Civil Service Bureau in vain, and so decided to rely on himself and start his own project.

Jordanian youth’s confidence in the effectiveness of the government’s solutions has declined since the employment rates over the past three years have increased.

The number of those who have applied to benefit from the Qatar grant as well as the ‘Watan’ service program, makes the magnitude of the problem facing the Jordanian youth quite clear.
