Minister of Information and Communication Jumana Ghunaimat appreciated the efforts made by civil society to develop public freedoms, speaking at a conference funded by the European Union entitled “Empowering Civil Society through Community Media”, Ghunaimat noted the importance of civil society, given its role in providing services in various community issues.

Minister Ghunaimat stressed on the importance of the voice of community media as it is the voice of local communities and has more influence on the people than the official media, adding that community media, if objective and professional, will play a role in conveying people's concerns.

On the attendance of women in the media, she said that this presence so far is still limited, and stressed on the suffering of women in the community and specifically in the parties from gender gaps, and that the government is aware of this and is trying to work on several plans to support women and enhance their work and support them to increase their economic participation.
