Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited Jerash on Wednesday and listened to the efforts of the Jerash Societies to empower the local community. The Queen toured the Lubaba Bint Al Hareth Secondary School for Girls and met teachers and administrative staff.

At the Jerash Women Charitable Society, Her Majesty met with the President Samira Al Sabbagh and Vice President Hiba Zureikat, and listened to a briefing about the work of the association and its achievements and future plans.

The association was founded in 1971 and aims to provide assistance to needy families in the governorate. It also trains and rehabilitates women in various vocational skills, including sections for sewing, embroidery, nursery and kindergarten.

Her Majesty met with 15 heads of the Jerash Societies and thanked them for working together to serve their communities, noting that civil society organizations and charities have an important role, as they are more familiar with the projects that society needs.
