Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad said that his country looks to the future of its relations with Jordan and not to the past.

In a statement to Roya TV, on the sidelines of a meeting with a Jordanian parliamentary delegation, which included deputies Tariq Khoury and Qais Ziadin, Syrian Deputy Minister Miqdad expressed his confidence in the return of relations due to the good intentions between the two countries.

He stressed that he supports meetings with parliamentarians, which is known as "parliamentary diplomacy", because they reflect the genuine feelings of the people, pointing out that the Syrian and Jordanian peoples are linked to each other and harming Syria hurts Jordan.

Miqdad referred to the war that his country has fought against terrorism and affirmed its principles in combating terrorism and its non-proliferation in the region due to the danger it poses. He said that endangering Syria would expose all neighboring countries to the same situation.

With regard to the opening of the Nasib-Jabir border crossing between Syria and Jordan, Miqdad noted the importance of this crossing in the social and public communication between the two peoples sought by the Syrian state.

"We say to our people in Jordan that you are late in returning to your homeland, and that you will return with dignity to your homes and you are welcome at any time," he said.

He pointed out that the Syrian state will take care of the Syrian refugees who have lost their homes and will give them all their rights to health and education, so that the country can carry on with the tasks it was entrusted with.
