Israeli bulldozers demolished a home belonging to the Palestinian Abu-Sa’louk family, after claiming that the owners built the house without an Israeli planning permit, a local source has said.

This is the second time the house, located in the city of Lod in central Israel, has been brought down by the Israeli authorities.

In theory, Israeli law grants Palestinians the same equality as other citizens, however, in practice, that’s not necessarily the truth, as there are claims of discrimination and other issues.

Despite Palestinians making up more than 20% of the population, Israeli-Palestinian rights group Adalah says that only 4.6% of new homes built in Israel are in Palestinian towns and villages.

That’s simply because obtaining a planning permit as a native Palestinian resident citizen of Israel is almost impossible, which is why many of them are forced to build or extend their homes without a permit.
