Despite the cold snap and snowfall across many parts of the Kingdom, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said on Thursday, 17 January, that all tourist sites are open to visitors as per usual.

The ministry assured tourists that it is closely monitoring the weather conditions to ensure their safety, adding that anyone with queries and concerns can contact the Tourist Police Operations Room on 117777.

Many parts of Jordan were covered in snow on Wednesday evening through to Thursday morning.

A serious cold snap sent temperatures plummeting yesterday, and by late evening, hail that quickly turned to snow began to fall. The skies were also lit up by bright lightning, accompanied by very loud thunder.

Weather conditions are set to remain extremely cold on Thursday, with a chance of rain.
