Prime Minister Omar Razzaz met on Wednesday, 9 January, with US Deputy Secretary of State, John J. Sullivan, and discussed bilateral relations and means of boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Razzaz expressed appreciation for the United States' support of Jordan, offered to the Kingdom through a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which includes economic assistance that has proved invaluable during this tough economic phase.

Razzaz stressed that Jordan has exceeded its “absorptive capacity” as a result of receiving waves of refugees since the Syrian crisis started in 2011.

The Premier said that the international community is needed to shoulder full responsibility and to support Jordan amid such burdensome period.

According to reports by the United Nations (UN), Jordan is one of the most welcoming countries of refugees.
