MP Musleh Tarawneh questioned the validity of what official concerned bodies denied of the  existence of nuclear radiation leak in the Research Reactor at the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Irbid.

Tarawneh said in a post on Facebook: "Khaled Toukan and his people say that there is no leak in the Research Reactor at the (University of) Science and Technology, but many messages have reached me from sources within the Energy Authority and within the reactor facility saying that there is a leakage."

He added that an investigation should be carried out to uncover what is going on.

Two days ago, the government denied there is a radiation leak in the university facility.

The director of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor, Dr. Samer Abu Qahouq, also denied the reports, adding that this shows the public’s lack of knowledge of nuclear reactors and the periodically conducted tests.
