US forces have moved from Syria to Iraqi territory, according to a high ranking Iraqi security officer on Friday, January 4, 2019.

More than 100 Iraqi trucks carrying American military equipment moved from east of Syria to the Iraqi border through the Semalka crossing on their way to the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The source added that the majority of US forces have taken up headquarters in north-east of Arbil, the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and in Al Asad Airbase in Anbar, western Iraq.

Last week, US President Donald Trump suddenly announced the withdrawal of 2,000 US troops from Syria to Iraq.
