The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said it is estimated that 752 children are born in Jordan on New Year's Day, while a total of 395,072 children are estimated to be born around the world.

The Australian city of Sydney welcomed 168 new babies, according to estimates, followed by the Japanese capital Tokyo with 310 children, 605 in Beijing, 166 in Madrid, and 317 in New York City.

The islands of Fiji in the Pacific Ocean welcomed the first babies born in 2019; and the United States will be the last.

A quarter of the world's newborns will be born in South Asia, with an estimated 69,944 to be born in India, and 44,940 in China.
