Hundreds of Lebanese demonstrated in central Beirut on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in protest against the deteriorating living conditions and the reality of the political scene, after calls for demonstration appeared on social media.

Demonstrators gathered in the Martyrs Square in the center of the Lebanese capital about a week after the launch of calls to protest through social networking sites. While no political party adopted the invitation of this demonstration, participants said that they acted on their own accord.

The demonstrators, some of whom wore yellow vests following the movements of the "yellow vests" in France, carried banners that varied in slogans between overthrowing the regime, and fighting the corruption, and adopting the law to recover looted funds.
