Parliament member, Ibrahim al Badour, said that the government is expected to send the General Amnesty Draft Law to the lower house of Parliment by Sunday, December 16, 2018.

MP al Badour said in an interview on Roya TV that the House of Representatives is eager to issue the law, adding that this will be achieved in a short period.

Badour pointed out that His Majesty the King resolved matters regarding the General Amnesty, noting that before 2011, a temporary amnesty law was passed, after which temporary laws were cancelled.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Atef al Tarawneh, praised the Royal Decree to issue an Amnesty Law, assuring that the House of Representatives will work to approve it as quickly as necessary, immediately after the law arrives to the government, in response to the Royal directives aimed to alleviate the challenges and pressure facing citizens.

After the draft law reaches the House of Representatives, the Council will debate and vote on it. Next, the draft will be passed to the Senate, who will in turn discuss the draft and finally submit it to His Majesty King Abdullah II to ratify; where after the new law will be published in the Official Gazette.
