The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, that it arrested six people who had launched an attack at the University of Petra, and fired shots at students, injuring two, earlier on Tuesday, December 5, 2018.
A security source told Roya that during the investigation, the six detainees confessed that there were other people involved in the attack. The PSD circulated the list of the other suspects.
The source added that a shotgun and a pistol have been seized.
The university described the incident as ‘barbaric’ and vowed to take severe actions if any of its students were found involved in this attack. It also stressed that it will not waive the rights of its students and will take all legal procedures to punish the attackers.
