Citizens have complained of vehicles bearing temporary licence plates and rental cars recording speed violations with onboard speed cameras, and are wondering the legality of the matter.
The Department of Central Traffic clarified to Roya that this is carried out by the Division of Traffic Investigation and is a hidden surveillance system, and falls under the supervision law.
The law allows the Traffic Department the use of civilian vehicles to monitor traffic violations, the Department added, reminding that it is the citizen's duty to abide to the law.
