Jordanian Alaa Hammad, who has been imprisoned by the Israeli Occupational forces for 12 years, was released on Sunday, November 25, 2018.
According to Anas Abu Khudeir, an activist in the issues of Jordanian prisoners in Israeli jails, Hammad was released and moved to Jerusalem where he is expected to arrive in Amman soon to re-unite with his family.
Hammad was detained by Israeli forces in 2006 while visiting Jerusalem to open a restaurant. Hammad was charged with involvement in an alleged plot to kidnap an Israeli soldier and having contact with Syria, considered a “hostile state” by Israel, according to electronicintifada.net.
Abu Khudeir called the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to ease the 40-year-old former prisoner’s travel arrangements to Jordan
