Israeli Supreme Court approved the displacement of 700 Jerusalemites from their homes in the Silwan neighbourhood of East Jerusalem, on November 21, 2018, according to the Hebrew News Agency "Makan".

The Israeli Court had rejected yesterday a petition signed by 104 Silwan residents, and allowed the extremist Ateret Cohanim settlement organisation to expel the Palestinians from their homes.

The Israeli organisation is seeking to control more than 5 dunums in Silwan. As of September 2015, the residents of the neighbourhood received an evacuation notice, which prompted 84 families to take the case to the Israeli Supreme Court.

The Jerusalemite families asserted in their petition that the transfer of the land ownership to the settlement organisation was made without any proof of ownership, and that they have no right in doing so, especially as these lands are considered governmental.
