Jordanian water company “Miyahuna” confirmed the temporary suspension of water pumping to Amman and Zarqa, for annual routine maintenance.

Miyahuna Director of operations, Eng. Mohammed Al Kharabsheh, said in a statement that the company is operating in coordination with “Duaku” company and the Jordanian Water Authority.

Miyahuna will stop pumping water from the Disi for a week, starting on November 25 until December 1.

He pointed out that November-December are usually selected for maintenance, as water demand decreases during this time.

"The purpose of this suspension is to carry out preventive maintenance programmed for the entire system of the Desi Water Project, from the water wells to the pumping stations to pipes, in preparation for the summer.”

Kharabsheh added, that water tank trucks will reduce prices during the interruption period.

"The regions of Amman and Zarqa will be affected by the suspension of water pumping," the company said in a press release on Saturday, calling on citizens to rationalize consumption during the specified period.
The company added that pumping will resume according to the distribution program once the maintenance work is completed.
