Norwegian Ambassador to Jordan, Tone Allers, praised Jordan for becoming the first Arab country to join the National Committee for Pay Equity (NCPE), during the Pay Equity Forum 2018, held yesterday, November 16, 2018, under the patronage of the Jordanian Minister of Labor, Samir Murad.

The 2010 temporary Labor draft law is currently being review by the Lower House, with important amendments which will positively affect the participation of women in economy.

During the National Forum, Minister Murad said that the Jordanian government is eager and dedicated to equalize gender pay. "We gathered here today again to review the most prominent achievements of the National Committee for Pay Equity, and to discuss the challenges, future plans and arrangements, and the best options that will make Jordan a regional trailblazer in boosting pay equity and other matters of equality between the sexes in business”, stated Murad.

Ambassador Allers noted that motivating women to work and providing equal wages will contribute to changing customs and preferences. She expressed her contentment that NCPE in Jordan has achieved tangible results.
