Jordanian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology sent alert-messages (SMS) to citizens via mobile phones on Monday, November 12, 2018, to warn them about weather instability and the possibility of floods forming in certain areas the next 24 hours.

According to Minister Muthana Gharaibeh, the ministry sent about 2.5 million messages so far, signifying that all mobile phone users are being notified.

Gharaibeh praised the cooperation of telecommunication companies, stressing that the aim of this initiative is to educate citizens about weather conditions and give them an indication of when to be cautious.
