In a statement by the Minister of State for Information, and Government Spokesperson, Jumana Ghunaimat, the death toll of the prevailing weather situation has risen to seven.

Ghunaimat warned citizens and called on those living near lowlands, valleys, floodways, bridges and tunnels to evacuate their homes to save their lives, due to the expected heavy rains tonight and tomorrow.

Ghunaimat asks residents of these places and areas to head to nearby schools immediately, as they are open and serve as shelter centers for those affected by the weather, and those who are forced to evacuate their homes.

She added that the evacuations are coordinated with municipal and governorate councils, directors of the Public Works, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Civil Defense.

Ghunaimat warned that the prevailing weather situation will be difficult, especially after the middle of this night and tomorrow because of the heavy rains, and warned against flash floods.

Operations continue to rescue trapped citizens, and help immobilised cars on the Desert Highway.

All touristic tours to historical areas are suspended for Saturday, November 9, 2018.
