Teachers and students at 'Amr ibn al-'As School in Madaba, suspended teaching on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in protest of the collapse of part of the protective fence surrounding the school yard, demanding safety standards at the school.

The fence witnessed partial collapse due to heavy rains washing part of it away, on Monday night.

Two years prior, a tender to build new classrooms adjacent to the school were halted and the construction never finalised. The fence separates the school yard from the abandoned construction site.

Teachers and students demanded the Ministry of Education to accelerate the construction of the new school building, and raising safety standards.

(Our students are in danger. There is no protective fence between our students and the dangers of the new building.)

(Hot summers drown our students with sweat, and cruel cold freezes our students' hearts. This is how our students live in their school environment.)
