The Victoria College field trip to the Dead Sea was organised by two tourist offices, one licensed, the other illegal, reported Minister of Tourism, Lina Annab, in a meeting on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, to discuss her Ministry’s investigation into last Thursday horrific tragedy.

Annab pointed out that the main violations of these tourist offices are: disregard of safety instructions, procedures, and equipment, also not heeding to the sever weather warnings of heavy rains and floods, bring children to the most dangerous location possible.

The Ministry has taken measures by closing down the licensed office, and transferring the owners of the unlicensed office to the Attorney General.

Annab presented a report on the Ministry's procedures in reviewing the standards and principles of ‘adventure tourism’, which was established by the Ministry in 2016 in light of the popularity of this type of tourism in the world.

She stated that these reviews will focus on taking into account weather conditions to avoid accidents caused by floods or natural disasters in the future, and prevent swimming in dams and dangerous water areas.
