Despite the turbulent weather conditions experienced by Jordan over the weekend, two cruise ships made it to shore in Aqaba on Saturday, October 27, with 5,000 tourists onboard.

Aqaba, a four-hour drive from the capital Amman, is the Kingdom’s only port city.

During their stay, the European tourists will visit the city of Aqaba and nearby Wadi Rum and Petra.

The spokesperson for the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Abdul Mahdi Qatamin, confirmed that a third cruise ship carrying more than 2,000 European tourists docked in Aqaba on Saturday.

Qatamin said that the ASEZA has prepared a special program for the visitors, which begins by welcoming them at the port and transferring them to the city centre, before they head off to Wadi Rum and Petra then return back to Aqaba.
