His Majesty King Abdullah II received US representative for Florida's 27th Congressional District and Chairwoman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, on Sunday, October 20, 2018.
The meeting, which took place at Al-Husseiniya Palace, was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein.
His Majesty and former Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen discussed the partnership between Jordan and the United States as well as means of further boosting the cooperation between the two countries. King Abdullah expressed his content in the efforts exerted by the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee that help supporting the friendship between US and the Kingdom.
As for recent regional matters, the talk touched on the necessity of re-initiating the Palestinian-Israeli talks in order to reach a peaceful and lasting solution based on establishing an independent Palestinian state which declares East Jerusalem as its capital. Developments concerning Syria as well as the burdens arising from the Syrian refugee crisis on the Jordanian economy were also discussed.
Ros-Lehtinen commended the King's sincere efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The meeting was also attended by Advisor to His Majesty and Director of His Office, Manar Dabbas, and the US Chargé d'affaires at the American Embassy in Amman.
