Algeria announced banning the Niqab at work on Thursday, October 18, 2018. The decision is limited to working women as they are no longer allowed to wear a full-face veil (also known as Niqab).

The Algerian authority’s clarified the decision, saying that it is mainly an ‘identity-related’ concern, Reuters reported.

Algeria is split into two major parties, one of which adopts a moderate Islamist approach while the other is considered much more conservative.

Most of the women in Algeria do not wear the Niqab, however, the decision is expected to fall harsh on the Salafist minority in the country who endorse the Saudi’s strict Wahhabi version of Sunni Islam.
