UAE to recycle waste into jet fuel

Emirati Etihad Airways (EA), and the Center of Waste Management “Tadweer” in Abu Dhabi, announced a cooperation in a research project, to explore ways to convert waste into jet fuel.

According EA, the jet fuel produced by Tadweer, will be used in the airlines’ airplanes.

A memorandum of understanding was signed at EA headquarters, October 16, 2018, where it was agreed to launch an initial feasibility study for the development of a waste-to-fuel facility, in Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, EA’s Chief Operating Officer, Mohammad Al Bulooki said, “The technology to turn waste into biofuel is one of the most advanced technologies that Etihad sees as having a significant positive impact on the aviation industry.”
