The Israeli Foreign Ministery stated that the first meeting with the new Jordanian Ambassador Ghassan Majali was held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Emmanuel Nakhshon, said that Majali met with the Chief of State Protocol, Meron Reuben, and Deputy Director General for Middle East, Haim Regev, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Jordan had announced the appointment of Majali as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Jordan, replacing Walid Obeidat, in mid-September.
Jordanian-Israeli relations witnessed a crisis when in July 22, 2017, when an Israeli security guard killed two Jordanian citizens in an apartment belonging to the Israeli Embassy, in Amman. Israeli authorities later apologized and compensated the families.
