The Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) – an intergovernmental organization of 43 member states from Europe and the Mediterranean Basin – announced that the 2018 Women4Mediterranean conference will be held between October 9 and 11, 2018 at the Champalimaud Foundation’s Centre for the Unknown, located in Lisbon, Portugal.
According to a press release issued by the UFM on September, 27, 2018, the conference, which is organized in partnership with Portugal and with the participation of Jordan, will be attended by hundreds of influential personelle decision makers from all around the world, country-representatives, ministers, parliamentarians, international organizations’ representatives, academics, as well as participants from civil society and private institutions from different sectors, who advocate gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The conference official website has recently revealved that Jordanian Minister of Social Development, H.E. Mrs. Hala Lattouf, will be one of the speakers at this year's conference.
The 2018 version of the annual conference comes in alignment with the 43 UFM countries strong adherence to the Ministerial Declaration action plan aiming at applying policies to promote equality between men and women in political, economic and civil life in terms of rights and opportunities.
