Deputy Prime Minister, Rajai Muasher, said in a meeting regarding the draft of the new Income Tax Bill (ITB) that the Jordanian citizen pays high taxes. He added that "the sales tax is very high and accounts for 26% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”

Muasher pointed out that the government's recent decisions regarding the Sales Tax is a start at re-considering the Tax itself in an introduction to a new economic-reform in Jordan.

He added that 90% of the Social Security subscribers and military retirees, whose salaries are less than JD 3,500, will not be affected by the draft bill. Also, working engineers and doctors with salaries will not be affected by the tax, he elaborated.
