Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, said that Jordan has tried to persuade the United States to presume supporting United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Safadi, who met with a panel of Arab Foreign Ministers during the Arab League Council in Cairo on September 11, 2018, stressed that UNRWA’s survival is vital in building build peace and stability.

Suggesting ways to mobilize political and financial support for UNRWA was the center of the 150th session of the Arab League Council as the Agency is facing a severe financial crisis, one that is threatening its ability to continue helping millions of Palestinian refugees. Safadi pointed out that the risk of closing UNRWA’s schools still exists if funding is not secured.

Currently, Jordan is to organize and later participate in a soon-to-take-place meeting that aims to further support UNRWA by shouldering efforts along with Sweden, Germany, Japan, the European Union and Turkey.
